I’m not a Smart Man.

article image placeholderUploaded by @FryedOreo
I have to ponder aloud why this thing is or I wonder what this thing is, and I kind of just go for it. Now, what separates me from things smart man or a woman is that I don't mind being wrong about an idea. That's the part that's the exciting part is that I could be wrong because I could learn something new or vice versa. I could teach someone else something new or maybe not so much as teach, but give them an idea that they never considered

Things can become dangerous for me when I feel smart.

I saw this Instagram post the other day that was a great reminder because sometimes I can slip into this kind of thing, too. And it said, joy is a skill we unlearn. But in the comment, then underneath it, it said something about the way to move back into joy is to move away from, quote, unquote, knowing. And I thought that that was really poignant

It. Yeah, we get to this point often, right? The knowing is so tempting to well, everything starts with wanting to know more. But it's so tempting to feel like you know enough to where you don't need to know anything else. In some aspects of life this can aid you and actually guide you

I almost feel like that option being available on a dating site is like a trap. Because if you come across somebody who labels themselves as an intellectual, it's almost like, really? Do you want to advertise yourself that way? Even if they are? Do you know what I mean? It's just like I don't know, it just comes across funny

Well, of course, this is my signature and so I'm going to put my own little spin on it. One of the things that you said was your curiosity. Now, me thinking about that, thinking about intelligence, everybody has their own views. In fact, I believe another swellcaster actually did do a swell on the types of intelligence. And to me, when you mentioned curiosity, that to me is the sign of somebody who is intelligent

I wouldn't say that I'm intelligent, I'm curious, but I'm the type to test things. What if I do this this way? What will happen if I do this? Or if I say this, what will the outcome be? And that's how I either solve things or make a mess of it. I'm thinking that maybe there are different types of intelligence

I definitely have come across the smart people that think they know everything and there's no curiosity about anything because they've figured it out. And I have never viewed those people as smart people because they're limiting themselves. If they can't be open to other ideas and to other theories, and if they can't be curious about what ifs, then there's no evolution and it's a stalemate, which means it's not the right answer at some point, in my opinion. But another great topic

And that's when I kind of realized, like, oh, okay, so there are some aspects and components to me that actually when I was looking for a GIF for this post I'm not a smart man, but I know what love is. The famous quote from Forrest Gump. And I thought that was so corny, but I was like, yeah, that kind of is it

So I would consider that. And in this process, the person remarked that had I done more research or had I looked anything up, I wouldn't have said what I had said. And I think that is what society traditionally views. One who is not intelligent does they just are saying things anyway. They're saying stuff anyway, and they're not going to a thesaurus or a million news articles before they or get a PhD before they comment on something

It's just a certain because I feel like everybody is intelligent, as you said, there's various forms of intelligence. I mean, as far as human beings are concerned, we are, as we deem, intelligent beings or creatures, but then there are certain levels and aspects beyond simply just like survival means of intelligence or pattern seeking

So I guess I'll forget about that. But thank you very much. And, yes, you have been gone for quite a while from swell. I'm sure that's a story you will tell us very soon, but yeah. My curiosity has led me down avenues of thought that can be harmful, but overall is enlightening, no matter the experience. But my curiosity tends to not be based off of factual data and statistical analysis most of the time

@FryedOreo

I love the way that you put that, that they may know the words but not the music. Just love that. And I think that because that is a concern of yours and mine, of letting our ego run away or getting caught up in, let's say, even briefly, in, quote unquote, knowing or are thinking we know, or whatever it might be

It didn't dawn on me that these riddles led to a clue. You had all these riddles and all these different clues that led to an answer, and out of my curiosity, I wanted to know. I needed to know, even though I wasn't smart enough to obtain the answer, I guess, or to unlock the answer. But yeah, I think that's what makes learning so much fun

You? Well, those escape rooms are designed to challenge your mind so you're not alone. That's exactly what they are there for. And it sounds like you had a good experience being in such an opportunity or a unique space that you couldn't really rely on the typical tools that you use to problem solve. And hopefully through such process, you can begin to rework your brain's neuron processing areas to have new pathways which can create new means of curiosity and investigation
