It's very very hard to be empathetic with others when you can't be empathetic with yourself. So my question today is how do you intentionally practice opening the doors of awareness with yourself and with the world around you? What are the things that really help with that?

Because I'm just looking back throughout my life and there are times where I thought I was being empathetic with myself and understanding and aware of myself, but it was through a particular lens or through a particular framing and it wasn't as, let's say, aware of myself or as empathetic as it might be. And in being able to gain knowledge and understanding, for example, with respect to how my brain is wired and being autistic at ADHD, this reframes everything

I think it makes a lot of sense what you're saying there, because I think in order to have self awareness, there's an aspect of it where you have to be simply aware. And that takes knowledge of what the realities are about oneself. And so before you can really give those particular acknowledgments, you have to know that that exists

And that created in a sense, I was no different from a drug addict because I would achieve something and I would have the very slight high of the achievement. And you get the accolades. Maybe family will do something for you. Or you get some kind of honor from society in some way. And then it's like, okay, that passed and now what's next? And I would actually have family that would actually verbalize that. So what are you going to do next? Like what's?

Thanks for your response. I think that that's a lot of people's experiences. They are looking at external expectations and they assume that if I can live up to the external expectations of the people around me, then I'm going to be happy. But the one person they're not listening to is themselves. For many, it takes, and I speak to myself even that it takes a lot in life to really almost prove to ourselves that's not going to work for us
