Small Town Thoughts (Part 2)

article image placeholderUploaded by @dylanjamesolive
I don't think it's gotten barely any more diverse when I was a little kid or just less sort of I don't want to say clicky, but just sort of clicky in a much more extreme matter and just I don't know, I definitely think it's going to just I don't know, it's hard to tell. But I don't think Callahan will be getting much more open minded in the, you know, it's okay

Part 2 of my experience in my small town and some thoguhts about small town culture. #smalltown

I just think that a lot of these people, there's internal resentment that they never got out of that small town and they never got to do anything bigger than marrying the boy on the high school football team and having eight kids and living in the hateful little town. And so I think that they're trying to justify thinking that that was the best they could have done by acting like it's the most important thing in the universe. Disclaimer here

Hey, Dylan. What a story, man. That's crazy to think about how some people are so stuck in their ways and I mean, it's not a surprise small towns like that everywhere share that same fact. So it's unfortunate. I don't think it is the rule. I think it's definitely the exception. And I think that as long as we continue to have discussions, it's going to continue to shift and change

But yeah, I do think that there is just some sort of I don't know, in terms of people accepting people or not for who they are. I don't think that with my town some people just aren't used to anything other than what they have always thought to have been the standard or thought to be normal. And so when they do see something that juxtaposes that they just suddenly think it's bad, but that's not the case

And that can definitely be a harmful thing because I think that in order to grow as a person or to learn, then you have to constantly be learning, seeking out new things, because you can't learn if you don't experience new things. And so I think that's why small towns are so much slower to sort of progress. Because the first instinct when seeing something different is to just think negatively about it
