I emphasize depression is a medical illness, but it's also incredibly different. Unlike other medical problems where the sufferer preemptively runs through a professional, requests tests, and seeks medication and alternative therapies to get better, many people with depression avoid seeking help owing to the stigma. I'm often faced with these questions in my practice. How come others deal with these problems so effortlessly? Why is my brother confident and I'm so feeble? Why is this endless struggle uniquely crafted for me alone?
