Where is Wendy Williams?

article image placeholderUploaded by @DressingRoom8
Did you watch where is Wendy Williams? The new documentary on Lifetime? It's a four part series that, you know, it was probably one of the hardest things I've ever had to watch in my life. And I'm not necessarily the biggest fan of Wendy Williams in that I don't necessarily agree with all the things that she has said or done throughout her career. I find all that she's accomplished to be quite incredible

I feel like that's something that always bothers me, especially, like you say when they're talking about black women or black men. I feel like there's always, like, a negative tone around it. Just thinking of Whitney. Right. Since I haven't watched the thing on Wendy, it always made me sad to think that when she passed everything around, Whitney had to do more with her addictions and that type of thing

@Lolabunny0925 No protection, Legacy Tainted 😭 #unfair #sadness #hurtful

But instead of anchoring our conversations around legends, around what they've done and how they've changed the industries they've touched, instead, it becomes one act or one joke after another of unraveling the tapestry of their legacy

Again, alcohol is not something that is helpful to our world. It's really hurting people's bodies in so many mean. A lot of things are exacerbated by alcohol. I mean, colon cancer. Now we know dementia, just all of these things. And not to try to change the topic away from wendy, because I think she was a phenomenal woman, black woman of power. And I think her voice mattered and people heard her. And I loved her spirit

And I know she went through a lot in life, the drug addiction that affects your body, too. And then just having her heart was broken by her husband, like, just smashed to pieces, and that has effect, too. Heart. In the past, I have seen people who have been okay, and they have a serious heartbreak, and they don't know how to get past it. Like, they try, but they're still struggling with it

@DorasListening Hard Reality πŸ™πŸΎ #alcholic #substance #abuse #content #TV #news

And that doesn't have to be everyone's reality, nor does, as you're pointing to, nor does that reality actually enhance one's life. However, I don't feel like how that documentary got made. People will walk away from that feeling like, oh, I'll never drink. Right?

So could she have made different choices. Yeah, but to your point, she's not the only one who has done approach journalism that way. There are a ton of people, a ton of men, ton of people across different races and demographics who go hard and share things and are not holding back and are not holding, keeping people in the best of light?

And then we really don't know the truth, whether or not where she's at financially, we don't know what's going on in that area, and we don't know if people are taking advantage of the situation and exploiting this story to get more money. I know that that may be the case. I just feel sad for her and her family that they have to watch this because I know she has children, too, I believe

@DorasListening Agreed πŸ‘πŸΎ #money #struggle #TV

You. I couldn't agree more. I really do think that that documentary was just about getting her or her family. We're both more money at the expense of her reputation and her ability to be seen in the same light. I don't think anyone's going to watch that and look at her the same way. And it's even sad. Even I love that you change your tone of saying was to is, but I think that that's now going to be the reality
