Unexpected Parting

article image placeholderUploaded by @DarkMoonMusings
Thinking vaguely that I should offer coffee because you'd be angry if I failed to show your hospitality. The kids come to say goodbye. I cover you with the softest blanket knowing you would hate for strangers to see your bare feet. I hold your hand so you aren't alone in your house full of strangers I whisper words of love but I never say goodbye

You. Hey. Good evening. Greetings. I hope all is well. Just want to take a moment to share a few thoughts on your masterful. Right. And astounding recitation of your piece Unexpected parting, there is a universe, soul understanding of what you write, what you wrote. It's one that I think anyone who has been lifted by the winds of love and also experience the depths of its departure will relate and feel this peace in their deepest recesses. I know that I did

And all of that. I can fully feel and relate to what you went through, what you were going through, and how you made it present in this piece. I was living it with you. It's so important that we continue to grieve. I don't feel like it's ever fully done. But the more we can acknowledge and feel the feelings with it, the more we can get back to embracing that. That is a part of our experience here

Hey, Janice, this is Stephen. Happy Sunday. Happy National Poetry Month to you, and thank you for posting this one. Goodbye is one of those subjects that you could just meditate about or think about it for a long time and never really understand it. Um, I always wonder why we don't usually get the chance to say goodbyes. Like, people in places don't give us that chance many times

I have dealt with a lot of loss in my life and a lot of loss that has been very close to me, starting with losing my mother at the age of 14. And I have, I think, avoided writing about that in my poetry. I have never directly described my dealings with death and the imagery of the processes I went through in those settings

All that indoors is the open door of love. What a beautiful, beautiful line that just really hit me. Yeah. You know, loss and love kind of go hand in hand, because we all will, at some point experience that loss. And I just needed, I guess, to express that. Thank you so much for taking the time to listen to this and for sharing. Your words were beautiful, and I can't tell you how much that touched me. So thank you

And if you haven't had a chance to really grieve, it really knocks you for a loop or knocks me for a loop. I did not get to grieve when my mother passed for quite a while, because all the responsibility of her estate was left to me to take care of. And I still had my family that I was raising. And it really wasn't until COVID shut the world down that I really had a chance to grieve for her passing. So that was kind of an interesting experience

Thank you, Steven, for coming by and for all your kind words. I know you totally understand those feelings about goodbye, because we've talked about that a little bit. Yeah, you're right. We just don't often get the chance to really say good by. There's always these responsibilities that keep us from focusing, I guess, on that part that we've just lost, that person that we've just lost

Totally, very unexpected things can bring up that grief again. But I'm really looking forward to seeing where you go when you open up to this new theme. So please tag me if you post anything along those lines because I would love to hear it. Thank you again

It. Thank you for sharing something so powerful and raw with all of us. I'm sure it couldn't have been easy. There was a catch in your voice at several times that was heartbreaking, honestly. And I don't fully understand or know the motivation behind writing the way that you did. Perhaps you wrote it to honor the one that you lost
