#VoiceYourOpinion Thoughts on Elon Musk telling advertisers to F off

article image placeholderUploaded by @daily
I can't ever recall any CEO of mine telling a vendor or an advertiser or a client to f off. So it took me by surprise when Elon Musk responded 180 degrees from what I'm absolutely used to. But Elon Musk went on to say that the fleeing of these advertisers would eventually destroy X and he placed the blame on the companies themselves. He said, quote, what it's going to do? It's going to kill the company and the whole world will know the advertisers killed the company

Phil, thanks for sharing this recap. Wow. I mean, Elon Musk, he really is something else, isn't he? I think that your point about CEOs speaking this way to vendors, to people that are keeping the lights on effectively, myself included. I've never seen anything like that. I have not worked in business nearly as long as you have. But, like, jeez, I mean, I feel like it's sort of Business 101

https://s.swell.life/STx9GrHdSCoOkzi Substack post re: Twitter

So it's kind of this idea of looking back on how great Twitter used to be and what was it about it, and so that really is sort of intriguing me now and I have gone over to Blue Sky and kind of watching this whole thing happen, so I'll share that in the link of the description. It was over on substac

Thanks for bringing this particular issue or the point about the Musk, what he is telling and how he's telling. I have a different version here. I think Alan, like any other human being, is an individual person. But being a CEO of such a big brand or number of organizations which are doing unique work, whether SpaceX, whether Tesla or the way he handled Twitter and some of the other projects so he is having a unique thought process, he is innovative in his approach

But when it comes to running a social media company, which is a media company so far, it doesn't seem like he's the right person for the job. Which is sad, because he spent $40 billion for it

Yes, Elon. The king doing it again. I do applaud him. I really do, because he's correct. Disney is trying to basically blackmail him. And though the particular language that he used wasn't exactly eloquent or expected coming from a CEO. But I have Asperger's syndrome and so does Elon. Musk sometimes we kind of just speak without thinking. And he could have may have gotten defensive and was like, listen, if you're going to try to blackmail me, F off

Being able to board tunnels in transportation. I think he did that in California. Alternative energy cars and maybe in a planet where you don't have a lot of fossil fuels to build off of Twitter X. I don't know what his motivations are for that, but if you think of it something as more like experimenting, using how can I say real time communication tool. Something along those lines. Maybe the money isn't everything

And he just wants it to be about him, what he wants, his vision, his money, his things, and anybody else saying anything else about what he wants to do. I don't think he likes that at all. Which is why I don't understand why he took on Twitter, because that's all people's opinions. It's all about people's voices, people's perspectives. He don't want perspectives. He just wants to control what we can say or think

Without getting constantly people would go on their Twitter, and they would just have thousands of followers missing, because Twitter would if they found them speaking an opinion they didn't like, they would take away all those fake followers that they gave them. So Twitter was doing some really effed up stuff, and that's really the reason why he did that

If you're selling rockets, having a cozy relationship with a social media tool that is extremely popular could be beneficial. Know business elsewhere and other business dealings. So there are some outs for Elon Musk here. I don't know that any of them are very good for the American people, but those are a couple of things that I see. But from the advertising standpoint, I've seen the same thing that I think he's probably realized that for the past year

My daughter has ADHD and she has Tourette's, so she would get teased constantly because she would be stuck in a sentence and couldn't get it out. And I mean could not physically get it out. I think it's horrible for people to diminish someone based on a condition that's horrible. And if that employee was fired or laid off and it was due to that comment that he got what he had coming. But I don't care for Elon Musk
