She was abused by her mother in a horrific way, and it was absolutely awful and, to be honest, difficult to read. But then she influenced somebody to kill her mother. For her. That person is actually spending his life in prison. And she spent time in prison for being an accessory to a murder. But upon her release, why is she getting the folk hero status treatment?
Now, I think that what really distinguishes the treatment of the Menendez brothers, or rather how the public perceives them from Gypsy Rose, is actually the time at which these stories or the events actually happened and were then publicized. So in 2015, Gypsy Rose was arrested. At this time, social media was already popping off. And what we would see is that people would start talking about the case because of how sort of bizarre it was
