Drones or Fireworks? Some cities are declaring independence from the traditional fireworks

article image placeholderSome US cities are replacing 4th of July fireworks with environmentally friendly drones | CNN
The hallmark of every July 4 Independence Day weekend is the fireworks show. As far as I can remember, every city in the United States has at least one fireworks show over the July 4 weekend. And if your city doesn't have a show, you generally don't have to go very far, probably the next town over to see a fireworks show. However, last year that started to change in a few cities, and now that trend has really grabbed hold to even more cities

Which do you prefer? https://s.swell.life/STixuNFocCKd3xX

And I've never seen a drone show except for on television, which was very impressive of and as far as I know, a drone show has never caught anything on fire. So I think I would just prefer a drone show. I don't know how expensive it would be for our town to do that, but it would be preferable to a fireworks show. Anyway, thanks

I would not hate it if those took up most of the space that we have come to know with fireworks to this point. And I say that for a few reasons. Obviously, you noted the fact that fireworks as we know them typically can be held on dogs, on other pets, on people with PTSD or other trauma or aversion to loud noises

And now you're stripping away a lot of that sensory just for the colors and the impressive presentation. And is that enough to bring people out? Maybe the first time, but the next time and the next time. And why wouldn't people just watch it on their television screens rather than going somewhere to watch it? So on the one hand, I really like the idea. On the other hand, I don't know if it'll take off

My boyfriend's son does have autism, but the other day we went to our fireworks display in town and he was actually fine during the show, so I thought something might trigger him, but it didn't. So I understand. With all those things aside, I still rather have fireworks than drones for a few reasons. One being I've never gone to an air show because I've heard of accidents at air shows. And so in my mind, I'm thinking the same thing with drones

Drones are not fireworks

Somebody was saying that it was what was the word? Environmentally friendly. I don't know. There's less smoke, but there's more batteries. Those aren't necessarily environmentally friendly. I know they do these shows, and they've worked out well, but yeah, that many drones in the air at once. I know what happens when people get hit by a drone

My son is actually born on the second, so for our daily we go out, he's four, but for our family we go out and we experience that together and it's something that is really magical for us. So I would have to say that I lean much more towards keeping fireworks for my own personal selfish reasons, but I definitely do see the benefit of drones in dangerous or larger cities

You made me think of something and it may be completely ridiculous, but it also could be a path to bringing both together, maybe. I remember reading about some kind of sound projection system, whatever, I think it was called like either 3D sound or hypersonic or something like that. And basically there are these little devices that have core in them and they send out these vibrations and the vibrations intersect at some point
