#Perspective The new ESPN/Fox/WB sports streaming service will not be a game changer

article image placeholderESPN, Fox and Warner Bros. Discovery to launch joint sports streaming platform this year
Ahead of an earnings report. Today, Disney announced that it is forming a new sports streaming service in conjunction with Fox and Warner Bros. Discovery. Now, while this announcement is pretty scant on the actual details it is getting, major press and media reports are suggesting that this could change the media landscape and that this deal is a major response in an upheaval of the cable industry

And that is mainly because of what you touched on, which is the availability of certain games. As you know, I'm a big fan of the Premier League and just soccer in general, and the vast majority of those games are not on any of these platforms or channels, if you will. Added to that, the NBA, the vast majority of those games will not be on any of these changer. So really, it doesn't serve much of a purpose at all for me

Regular TV and The casual culture

And it's just like all this because for whatever reason, we never solved the cable issue that we had, where you had too many lobbyists in Washington that were blocking any type of reform for that. We never found a way to bring cable bills down. We also never found a way to regulate the FCC a little bit more, which would allow people to push the boundaries of television just a little bit past what we should be allowed to do. And we saw a pinch of that in the 1990s
