What happened to the teenage babysitter?

article image placeholderDon’t Tell America the Babysitter’s Dead
And as a result, they would hire the oldest sibling to watch the kids, or the neighbor who had a sibling that was old enough to come in and watch the kids. At the same time, you had marketers marketing products and goods towards these teenagers. So teenagers had a desire to actually earn money so they could buy this stuff. So it was a perfect world that came together that enabled this rite of passage

And even though these may not be official reasons why teenagers aren't babysitting anymore, I do believe it's in the back of some people's minds because you hear about it often, and it's really sad because I remember being a babysitter and I also remember being babysat, and it was a great way to earn money. And I think it will also get kids outside and more familiar with nature a bit

@HeyItsErica My career as a babysitter (two days)

And they had a cat named Sylvester, black and white cat. And he was awful. He scratched, did nothing but ambush and scratch and bite me all night long. Now, he was afraid of the two kids, but he was not afraid of me. And I kept on saying to him, why are you not afraid of me? I can do much more damage than these two kids. But I got home and I said, yep, that's it. No more

@Phil

Hey, Phil. I was smiling, listening to your story because it reminded me of my substitute teaching career. And I hate to say that, because education is so important and I do have a big heart for the children. I really do. I love seeing children learn, but it was just really hard because, number one, as a substitute teacher, I was moving from school to school
