#VoiceYourOpinion How are price increases changing your dining out habits?

article image placeholderUploaded by @daily
Maybe I'll take a look at another restaurant and just see what that total would be and see, what do I really want? So it has made me think a little bit more, get a little bit more proactive, think ahead to where I'm not starving, when I make poor decisions about what I'm going to eat, but really planning ahead, planning meals so that don't have to eat out

And here's a link to an article about the rising cost of food and especially fast food. And if you did a quick search on Twitter about five guys burgers receipts, I'm sure you will find plenty of people complaining and posting their receipts about how a lunch turned into a $27 affair

Hello. This is an interesting question because as a foodie, somebody who appreciates food, enjoys food, does not want to spend time eating food I do not like. This is something I've always seriously considered when eating out. And my husband as well, since he's the person I'm usually eating out with is is this dinner, lunch, whatever is the value there? Was this worth it? Considering that we also cook? I cook a lot. I cook most of our meals

Hey, Phil, apologize for my nasally voice. I caught that cold that's been going around. But I wanted to respond to this because it's been something that I have certainly been noticing a lot in the city that I live in, not just with fast food, but I think across the board, just with food and drink in general. Prices have been rising to a really sort of unsustainable level

You just so eloquently put together exactly the thought process that goes through my mind when I decide that I don't want to cook for the night and I'm just going to order something. First of all, we all have those nights. We get tired. It's been a long week. We're stressed out and don't have the energy to cook. And it's just made so easy

Now, personally, I do like eating out as far as if it's my favorite place. But as I mentioned on a previous well, my husband and I, we typically cook about 85, 90% of the time at home anyway. But the rest of the time we do eat out. Like most people, we don't want to cook all the time, and we don't have the strength or energy to cook all the time

Now it's a dollar 25 store is what they should call it. Dollar store and a half. Or a dollar store and a quarter. So I find myself cooking more at home. But then here we go. Therein lies another problem, because groceries are so expensive. So nowadays I find myself not even eating the stuff that I want to eat. If I have a real hankering for something, then I will go out and try to get it, even if it's a little bit more pricey

You. Very interesting topic. You know, for me, the prices have been going up for a while, and I travel a lot for my work, so I actually end up spending more money at the supermarket. I buy a lot of my groceries. I prepack snacks. I do all of that. So in terms of eating out, I don't anymore, to be honest with you. Maybe once or twice every six months

Less eating out. But, also really feeling the pinch at grocery stores too!

I would say that I probably eat out less. Not that I did a lot of eating out, because I was always taught to kind of cook at home, but it was always sort of that just, if I'm busy, just grab something. But it is expensive, I would hit the button

And I'm not talking about skimping either. I mean, you're full. You get full each setting. That's three complete meals for $20. So that's like eight $9 apiece for each meal. That's not bad. That's not bad. And that's how I look at it. Even if I only get two meals out of it, that's still only I only spent $10 per meal. So that's really not bad at all

Hard to tell if I had a shift in dining habits, but I think people care more about what is immediately available

But I do want to add into other people's dining out habits because I think what this has to do now is if they have food ready and available to eat. Because what I've noticed is there also has been an increase in delivery orders or DoorDash orders, uber eats, whatever you want to call it, because people just want food ready at home when they get off work or whatever they're doing that day

And it's that thing with like free marketed capitalism and I've said this a lot of times with the economies, economies of scale and return on invested capital. The larger companies are and the bigger of a share of the market they have the more bargaining powers with those corporations. They essentially set rules that people on the bottom end of the spade have to follow and so there really has to be some kind of change in the way that works otherwise it's going to be very bad

Hi. This is Sherry. This is my thing. I love to eat out like the next person, but when I read that they're putting cardboard or steel or paper in food, then it makes me wonder if I really want to eat out and pay for somebody doing that. So I'd rather cook at home

It. Price increases aren't changing me eating out at all. Maybe I can afford to eat out because I'm just one person. I don't have any kids and I probably won't for a long time and I don't have any pets either to feed right now so I don't have any of my pets anymore. Buy nay food addition to my food it racks up. It is not expensive at I have pet rabbits and a cat and I've had pets throughout my life

I was just telling someone today, like, I just got a burrito and this fries and $40 and I just was so shocked. But I won't be doing that again. And the restaurant, it's not even that great. But my point is, it always should have affected us or me, right? Even when before the prices start racketing up for the simple fact it's always more sustainable. It makes more sense financially and health wise to eat at home. But now when you

Hello, everyone. So, interesting question. I think we all can relate to that. Everything's obviously more expensive. I think that's post pandemic stuff. I think pre pandemic, you can still go out to eat. And most on the fast food chain stuff. Ah. For us or our family, what has changed is that we're obviously more aware of the prices of the restaurants we were used to go. We go less often than what we used to do

#Food #Expensive #SaveMoney

You due to how expensive it is to go out. I would say that I have intentionally made the choice to spend more money buying groceries and cooking food at home. And not primarily just because it's expensive to eat out, but just because when you become a parent, especially if your child is a toddler, for those who you are there. Condolences. Joking. No, seriously though, you are struggling. You're struggling to figure out a should you be spending the money to be going out?
