Natural Disasters: Is the US Government in the home insurance business? Should taxpayers be responsible?

article image placeholderThe 'Hurricane Tax' Hitting Florida Alongside Idalia
But even people that have that insurance get hit hard during times of or following times of hurricanes like this expect their premium to be hit with an assessment. And that assessment covers the cost to rebuild. So in my eyes, it really begs the question should the government just take over the business of insurance? Private companies are really not doing their job on insuring these homes. Should the government just take over? It seems like taxpayers are footing the bill no matter what anyways

So when you hear about these different things when it comes to natural disasters and it leans into climate change and it leans into what part of the country do you live in, how many of these laws and how many of these different things that we have in place, how many of them are actually up to date?

I'm not the kind of person that's going to take the side of a Democrat or Republican. I don't want to even put myself in that boat for people to attack me that way. But there's right and there's wrong, and there is us looking out for each other, and there's people looking out for self. And I feel like we don't know enough. We don't do enough research. We don't educate ourselves enough to even know how to vote

And to add insult to injury, I can't tell you how embarrassing it is to be living in Florida. Personally. I'm originally from New York. I don't clean Florida, but I have lived here for a while, and it is so embarrassing to even be a part of this state. Everything about it is ridiculous. So I completely agree with that statement as well. Yeah, it's a huge part of the problem too, as far as elections go
