Stand-up comedy season?

article image placeholderUploaded by @comicpat.com
Hey everybody. This is my second swellcast. My name is Pat DeBerry. I'm a full time professional stand up comedian, just eking out a living, living up here in upstate New York. But I love what I do for a living and I love to talk about it. And that's why I'm doing these swellcasts, because I've had people ask me questions after shows because they really don't know the inner workings of how stand up comedy works

In this episode i talk about the stand-up comedy season.

And as soon as somebody, either at work or outside of work learned that he used to do stand up comedy, the first thing out of their mouth usually was, well, make me laugh then. And I hated it more than he did. He dealt with it because that's what he had to deal with for years and he had two different ways of dealing with it

And Seinfeld claimed that he was not fun to hang out with because he was pretty much always looking for the next joke. I don't know. I've got friends that I call civilians. Like when comedians talk with each other, we might say it's almost like being a made guy in the Mafia. If I'm hanging out with a civilian friend of mine they know that I'm a comedian, but I'm a pretty good hang. We have some fun. I joke around
