Government Assistance: is there a limit and should there be random drug test

You work hard, but you're not as successful as a person who's able to build a multimillion dollar business. And you go to work every day and you pay your taxes, but you can't get any assistance. It's crazy. I honestly feel that having some of the people who aren't able to get jobs because the lack thereof and no illnesses should have about a six month period to be able to obtain those benefits before they're cut off

And I talked to her about housing and real estate and income disparities and all that. She was in Trenton, New Jersey, in the Trent, New Jersey area, and she really enlightened me on some certain things. So for housing, as an example, just in terms of government assistance, the way it has been used over the decades is not necessarily the way it was intended to use based on certain assumptions

So I think that would be fine. But I thought jobs typically took care of that portion. But yeah, overall, I think the politics of this nation is disgusting. That's all

With my caseload, when I worked for a county in section eight, I had 300 something people who were on section eight, various different incomes. And I believe within a six month period between the distribution of, I say, 100 landlords, we had given out close to $2 million in funds. And some of these landlords had multiple properties. So this wasn't just going to. They're getting double the money

And the reason being is because I became disabled, I could not work, which is crazy, but because I could not work, and I didn't get Social Security as of yet, I had a brain injury, and then that kept me from doing a whole lot of things, and it still does. But I'm not crazy or anything. But the point of the matter is this. I don't understand the politics of America. I don't understand the necessity to not help

Man, there are several krogers, I mean, everywhere you look, there's a kroger. But if you go to one kroger, it's not the same as the other kroger, because depending on the area, they have more stuff available, or it's just a nicer store. For instance, the west end kroger is so run down. There's homeless people outside the kroger. The parking lot is tore up. The food in there is spoiled. They don't get fresh food

And my blood sugars had been out of control trying to deal with my son, like the stress of everything. But thank God for him. And that just reminds me too, because I meant to send him a thank you. So the next time that I go in, or actually next time that the instant pump lady calls me, I'm going to tell her that I need to give him a compliment and then send him something too. I might drop something by there because I believe in doing that

And then the workers that work, especially when you go to try to get assistance in those offices, they have a deadline, right? Because I remember I worked with clients when I worked in the care homes, moving them out. I worked with clients, and they would go in, and I would go in with them and try to do the paperwork. And if they had 30 days, you better believe they did it on day 29 or day 30. They did not rush

He had a couple of times they go to his lungs, and I think he had one time that it was close to his heart, so he has to monitor that. And then also, he is bipolar, and I talk about this sometime on here, but he definitely can't work because he gets mad when he works if he's not medicated, but if he is, he does well. But confrontation is not good for him, especially when he's in that situation

But you knowing that there is a problem, you also need to acknowledge it and accept that you need help. That's how I feel about that. And then how you talked about how it's like for you to get assistance, you need to have basically zero. Yeah, like, that's crazy to me. It is crazy. In this state, for you to qualify for Medicaid, you have to be making, I think, under twenty k a year for you to qualify for Medicaid

I wish they would. Because she needs to get herself together before she's no longer here. And drug addicts, a lot of times they don't see they have a problem, they don't see some people continue to do. You could tell a person that they foot going to ride off and if they have that addiction, if they're not ready to take the help, they're not. So I don't know

I just want to say that I feel like that's like a black and white way of thinking and I feel there's always gray areas. I'm not pointing fingers or anything. I'm just stating how I feel. In my opinion. I think that is different for everyone's situation. Maybe that that applies to some people, but I feel like some people are human

And I feel like if we as a whole tried to understand that more, I understand, but there should also be some type of more help for people that are the ants and run the world, because when you are in the middle ground, you don't get many benefits. And I've been there and you struggle and you're the one that's paying the more taxes. So I understand that

You. And thank you so much for joining the topic. The conversation I do want to say right off that swell is supposed to be a place where people can come talk about different subjects and people can give feedback and the world doesn't all think the same. So it's good to have conversation where people can give their viewpoints and give their thoughts and share their experiences. So that's a good thing

And that just shows you how jacked up our government assistance programs are. It's almost like some of these programs are created and designed to keep people in a poverty state, because if you come out of a poverty state, you're going to have to pay so much more than you were when you weren't working. And then if you do get a job, you have to be extremely careful not to exceed any income limits because then you'll lose your benefits the very next month

I have mental health services that I connect with all the time and I have to be accountable for job search and all that stuff. So they have those in place and where I live, where you have to show those things that you're working toward. And not only is it a good thing that you have to show those things, but I think it's good for the person. It gives them some accountability, and it also gives you something to look forward to

But we never look at those big rich ceos that take basically the country's treasury to the cleaners. So public assistance and health care. And when I say health care, I mean dental, mental eyeglasses, hearing all of that, those two things are tied together. If we had a more equitable health care system, we would probably need a whole lot less public assistance

So I want to encourage you to keep doing that. And acknowledging things is the first step, and then taking accountability. And it seems like you've done both of those. So good luck on your journey. I know you're going to do well. And again, thanks you for joining my swell

Hello. Good morning, Jeremiah, and Happy Monday. Thank you so much for commenting and giving that other insight to it, because you're right, we often don't think of that first. But I can honestly say that I work for a nonprofit agency and they got $50 million this year. Now, the job that I have, I could go to another company and make double the amount. But right now, custom flexibility, I really can't do that
