Valentines and why I dont celebrate!
When it came to holidays, I had to force them to go shopping. When it came to Valentine's Day, I always got the last minute things. Or sometimes it may have been nothing at all. After I decided to get divorced, it was the best Valentine's Day gift I ever got from him. He came and brought me a dozen roses and some candy and I believe it was a card or something and maybe a gift card to go with it

So I don't knock those that are it's just not my cup of tea. Nothing tragic happened on those days. It's just those were holidays that my mom liked to celebrate. Now that she's not here, I just really don't have a desire to celebrate them and the ins and outs of that. But I understand where you're coming from, and I get it. Valentine's Day is one of those. Either you like it or you don't

When somebody likes you, they're going to treat you like they like you when somebody cares about you, they're going to treat you like that. And if they don't, you need to get up out of there, reassess that situation, and be like, yeah, it's time for me to move accordingly. If somebody really likes you and really values you, they're going to show you that, especially if they're with you

Hi, Andrea. I wanted to piggyback off what you said when you said even if you're single, you're still going to celebrate it. It's something that you've always celebrated just to kind of love on yourself. I like that. That I like. And the past few years, because I've been single for a while, the past few years, I kind of made a mental note, like, girl, just do something cute for yourself

And to me, that's a really good date. So if a man were to do that for me, I would be satisfied. That's a good date for me. If he wants to take me to dinner before or after, that's a good date, right? We don't have to just have dinner at the place. We could go before, after and then just not eat at the movie theater, just get popcorn. Right? But I do those things for myself

Hey, good morning, girl. Thanks so much for responding. I do celebrate with my children. Like, I buy them as little cute little stuffed animals or a game or something and some chocolates. And I'm actually, I saw this thing on, I think it's lemonade or either I forgot where it was on TikTok, maybe, but it's this box

Nobody, until you're ready to not think that way. You can think that way all you want, but there's no sense in being bitter about it. And I'm not bitter. It's just that I'd rather not acknowledge the day or look forward to it if I know that it's going to be a little bit of a let down for me or a bad memory. I just rather act like the day never came. Now, with my children, I will give them something

Hey, Kitha, thanks for opening up a space to talk about Valentine's Day. So with most holidays, I honestly could take them or leave them and mostly leave them. I rock with Thanksgiving because it's just about food, family, football, and it doesn't have all this extra stuff. And I can rock with that. I can rock with a 4 July because, again, get together, light up the grill

And I'm glad that even if you don't celebrate that holiday, that you enjoy something about it. Those candies that nobody else ever buys. I had to make a joke of it. I had to make light of it. Hey, Keith. I had to come back because you made me laugh. People always laugh at my choices of candy. So I like these. I like the necco candy wafers. I'm not sure if they're nationwide, but they're basically the same candy material as these hearts. They're just little circular discs, right? I like candy corn. I like circus peanut, like I said, not chocolate stuff

I'm trying to think of some other candies, too, that people eat that I don't like. My dad likes those little coconut things. They're, like, different color. I think they're like red and blue and white or something, or some kind of color. He likes to eat them, and I don't like them either. It's like a coconut bar or something. Every once in a while you can find it, and then you can't

But, you know, as I've gotten older, you know, realize that Valentine's Day is nothing more than a retail holiday, just like St. Patrick's Day. These retailers know that between Christmas and Easter, there really isn't anything in the form of a holiday that's going to yield profits. So they create these holidays of no significance. And Valentine's Day is one of no significance
So holidays, to me, is not really a big thing. I think one of the ladies, she mentioned the Thanksgiving, and, yeah, we generally get together, obviously have the food and football and all that stuff, but to me, I'm just thankful that it's another day that I can breathe the air given to me, spend time with the family and friends and things of that nature

And it was really bad. Like I had a whole arm that was white because all my skin came off. So I don't celebrate 4 July just because I don't even care no more. I'm like, whatever. I never cared. Because you spent all that money for what? You're going to spend $100 and get a little box that you could put your shoes in. But yeah, you're right. It's just ways to make money. That's it

So I don't need to receive anything because I'm giving me, and I think that's what matters. I do enjoy some holidays, especially growing up. Thanksgiving was my favorite because that's when I got to see my grandma, my cousins and everything. Everybody was so close and hung together. I enjoyed reminiscing about the old times and hearing old stories. I don't have that now because my mother died first, and then my grandma died
