How I Became a Mental Health Advocate

Then from there, in 2021, I ran for mayor of my city on a mental health platform because I didn't like the way that mental health was handled by our city and by the police department. I did not win, but I made a change, because what I wanted was for people with mental health issues to be diverted from jail to a mental health facility. And actually, after my run, a whole facility was built just for that purpose

Hey, Chris. What a pretty powerful story. I love how you are coming into what you're meant to do in a way. You know, I feel like there's no mistakes or accidents in life, and our path leads us to exactly where we are intended to be, even if it's not where we would have chosen on our own. But pretty powerful stuff. Thank you for sharing, and I'm glad you're here

It's so important, and I really appreciate you having that same fire I recognize in my daughter for just pushing through and not letting people tell you how you're supposed to live your life. And I am sure that at some point you may be a lifesaver, if you aren't already. But thanks so much for this post, and I am going to be following you. Bye

So you get it. Exactly. I've talked to many people and hopefully I can at least save one life. And tell your daughter to I'm tearing up. Tell your daughter to keep it up. Just keep it up. Make sure to have her self care also, but just keep it up. People need people like her. They need people that aren't afraid to speak and share their own personal stories. All, thank you for coming

Thank you for your response and your warm welcome to Shelly. I'm enjoying it so far. And something you said I had to respond to. I agree. There's no accidents in life. I actually thought I was one at one point, but now I see that I'm not an accident, and there are no accidents. Thank you for listening. Bye
