Episode 2: Counties

article image placeholderUploaded by @cbryant627
I'm from so and so county. So for example, I grew up in Baltimore County. I moved to a few different counties, but I'm just going to stick for Baltimore County for this example. And that was pretty much like the suburban area around Baltimore City. So when people in the state, when I was out, would ask me where I'm from, I'd be like, oh, I'm from Baltimore County

#MyLife #Swell #Maryland #Florida On today’s episode I talk about the importance of counties in Maryland.

You, Caroline. This is so funny and I can literally tell you why this happens. Yes, we talk about what county we're from, but sometimes we talk about the county we're nearest that we're proudest of. Florida has 67 counties. A lot of them have reputations. I mean, Florida has a reputation in general. Said some of the Maryland counties have reputations

I was like, oh, my God, that might be, like, a northern thing, but then you were talking about your friend from Delaware, and I was like, okay, so then it's not a northern thing. But yeah, I just thought that that was funny because when people ask me where from, I mean, I live in Mecklenburg County in Charlotte, but I never say I'm from county. Like, that has never crossed my mind once to say

And they automatically expect you to know where it's and the people there, but it's like, no, I don't. I've only lived here for almost four years, and it's like, I don't know where everything is still. I'm still navigating around. I also think it's really funny with your friend from Delaware, because I was born and raised in Delaware before I moved to Maryland. And Delaware is such a small state

And she just says if you take a line across from like, her example is if you take a line across from Elkton and drew it to the right a few miles over the Maryland line, that's where I live. And I know a few people in Delaware do the same thing, where they'll be like, oh, if you a line and take it upwards from Salisbury. I live here, close to the beach, kind of where they even live in a different state

As soon as you passed the state line, you saw the Walmart, the royal farms, and then you were like in Elkton. And I was like, what? This is not Maryland. This is just literally an extension of, like, I didn't really like, I can't talk. I didn't really think that Elkton was Maryland. I thought it really started at Howard Degrees and, like, all that stuff. That's where I thought Maryland truly started
