Escape to Night

article image placeholderUploaded by @Cat_Sheffield
He swooped down upon a plump grazing rabbit, escorting it from life to death in absolute quiet against a stunning full moon. The rabbit shrieked in terror, succumbing to the blades of this feathered angel of doom. My heart pumped wildly in my chest, realizing I had just witnessed the tools of a master predator. Crickets chirped all around me in a symphony of song. Bullfrogs croaked in harmony. Mice wrestled hastily in the crunchy leaves beneath my feet. The sounds of night surrounded me like a sweet mournful ballad

An original poem about reconnecting with nature. The photo is an original, too.
