Creating relatable characters for comics/manga: Onyx

article image placeholderUploaded by @Byrdseyeview
He's always trying to make things light when things are going on, especially when things are kind of scary and things are kind of like, oh man, are we going to get out of this. He always comes up with some kind of quip or something to say. Most of time it's his fear that kind of brings out the joking because it's kind of an uncomfortable joking that he's doing. And the other characters don't really get that. They just kind of get annoyed with it

Yeah. Relatable character is definitely very important. No matter, like, what it is we're watching or reading it's like, you want to feel a connection to the experience they're having, and that's kind of, like, at least for me, like, keeps me there feeling like, yeah, like, this could be me or this has been me or something about this, like, is relatable. Thanks for sharing

It's been five issues so far, and that's been my main goal. And that's what most people say when they read my books. They say, oh, man, I really love the characters, or I really love the pacing and the characters along with the artistic stuff with layouts and details and stuff like that. But I hear it a lot about I love the characters, I love their interactions with each other. So, once again, thanks for checking out my Swell
