I think this is an issue we need to kind of address more as a community and understand that hip hop is not solely to blame, however, hip hop, because it is so influential, we really need to start doing something about this and we need to do something differently, whether it be we start listening to artists who are much more about life, much more about culture, much more about doing or making better decisions

It seems like most people relate to music that is more negative and emotionally negatively emotion based. And that goes for any genre. Pop, hip hop, country, I mean, like, truly, almost any genre. You see a large overlap of success when it comes to talking about violence or heartbreak or addictions or things of that nature. I think this is because

And I do definitely resonate with what you said at the end about people kind of listening to what they listen to and then checking in on their feelings. And I think that's key. Right there is people just getting more in tune with their feelings and really understanding how much of an effect certain things like negative music is affecting them. Know, I still think about it today, the significance of it that they had to even the black community, black rappers in the black community, in the industry, felt compelled to put out a song called self destruction, your head of self destruction, because they saw the danger in their own music and also its influence on what was going on in the black community
