So if during the whole day, two or three opportunities I get of 15 minutes each, which means that I again get a chance of writing for 45 minutes. And if I don't get the time throughout the day, at least I have the consolation that I have done 1 hour of writing in the morning. So that's how I do it

So you are an ex banker, an author, a career coach, portfolio advisor. Your career graph is quite interesting. So how did your journey begin and how did you arrive at writing?
Nasir Zaidi
@iamawriter · 0:53
You. Banking was my profession, but writing has always been my passion. And all along, while I was working as a banker, becoming an author was at the back of my mind. So I used to write every day without the thought of getting published. I just wanted to hone my skills as a writer. And then a time came when I quit my job and started focusing full time on writing. Now, because I'm an ex banker, becoming a career coach was automatic

In continuation with my previous question, writing is extremely distinct as compared to your other professions. So how have your other professions helped you to write better?
Nasir Zaidi

You. My experience as a banker, combined with my knowledge and interest in stock market investments, gives me that extra edge in nonfiction writing. Professional writing, you can say, and my reading helps me in fiction writing

While writing your first book, my own heaven in God's kingdom, a collection of poems on Imam Ali. What were the nascent thoughts? What was the objective at the outset?
Nasir Zaidi

When I was very young, I read peak of eloquence. It was a collection of Imam Ali's sermons and sayings. And every word has depth and makes you think. And after that, I read it a number of times and I always go to it whenever I want some kind of insight into any subject or any topic that I want to

From poems on Imam Ali to explaining the essence of Aum, this seems like a huge leap. What was the reader's response like for this book, and why did you decide to pen this book?
Nasir Zaidi
@iamawriter · 0:56
You. I always like to question doctrines, beliefs and things that are just followed. You must have heard of the famous saying, speech is silver, silence is golden. It got me thinking, is it really true that speech is silver and silence is golden? When a timeless, spiritual and resonant sound like ohm is there, doesn't it defy this saying? So I took a deep dive into ohm to understand its essence, and from there this book was born. The reader's response was terrific

You coming to your next book? Don't let the song in your heart die. It is an ode to women who are victims of domestic violence. What inspired you to pen this book with a poignant theme such as this? How did you conceive the idea for this book?
Nasir Zaidi
@iamawriter · 1:22
So it really got me thinking that when I consider woman as a strong force and she has the capability to withstand anything how come she suddenly becomes weak, meek and timid? Now in the novel, don't let the song in your heart die. I have tried to highlight this fact. The central figure of this novel is Shraddha who is an educated, beautiful lady with amazing skills and talents

So, before we leave, what advice or suggestions would you like to give to aspiring authors out there?
Nasir Zaidi
@iamawriter · 0:36
You write not for the sake of money. If you write with that aim then you are not an artist but a business person. Writing has to come straight from the heart. Writing needs devotion, dedication and determination. Everything should be secondary. Name, fame, wealth. If you want to be a true writer and if you are indeed a true writer then name, fame and wealth will come too. Because success breeds success. Thank you, Siddhi
