The book is structured in short and digestible essay form and in easy and understandable language. It has everything you need to become a better person in general and it is not just about SSB

The stuff, if you have gone through the book, as I can make out, when you gave the introductory talk, which was better than anything that I can say in such a few words, there are articles written by my friend Colonel Sareen, then Purvi, then Satyendra, about English. So like that, it's a compilation of stuff which I found useful and that is how this book has come about. It is very different from any SSB book

Talking about Nofril's academy. It boosts of old school simple ideas. That's attracting the youth. What exactly does one get to learn in NFA that's different from the other academies?

And these old school ideas, I would not say they would be attracting a large number of youth because I think a very small percentage adopts the approach of no films academy because the society of the youth of whatever my understanding is, is looking for shortcuts or some formula or quick fix solutions to resolve problems without endeavoring to affect any changes in their habits or behavior

So what does it take to be an officer? Does Josh, or emotions as a quality still matter to be an officer rather than technological bend of mind and sharpness of mind? I ask this question since future warfare is likely to be more about machines than men

So as a result, as a consequence, not as a result, these aspects of personality or qualities of a leader will always remain relevant. Now, you talked about Josh, maybe spirit, decor. All these things were relevant in the past. They will remain relevant today and will remain relevant in the future as well. Of course, the intelligence understanding of a leader is also very important. So a good leader must have good technical knowledge

Think like people feel that if you wear a complete tracksuit with your hood covered and all that, and in the heat, you run on a treadmill like that and you sweat hell of a lot, then you will reduce weight, which is bad, actually. You don't reduce weight, you get dehydrated. So there are numerous, very popular ideas which are, to put it bluntly, quite stupid, actually

Supposedly if someone fails NDA ImA SSB, do you think they are perhaps not made for this career? They lack leadership qualities and should offer some other career path in continuation. To this question, according to you, are leaders born or trained? Because by training I feel that 1 may fake to clear SSB and then in the real time when the time comes s they may not be able to live up to their duties

It is a rather complex question that you have asked me. So the first part you ask is if supposing someone fails the NDA IMA SSB and that you take it that he or she is lacking the leadership qualities and should go for some other career. Well if a person is unable to clear the SSB then the person would be forced to do so. But it is not something that like you come up with the later question that you have persons genetically born to be leaders and all that

Talking about the book. How long have you been working on this book? And did you face any hurdles in the process of publishing the book?

You. As I said in the beginning, this book is a compilation of essays which I wrote over a period of six, seven years and also included essays written by some of my friends and my students. So it is a compilation of these things. Ah. I did not face any hurdles because over a period of time I was writing, there was no time pressure of getting the book published and things like that

And because there are so many in number, they believe that these are the right things. So this is one. And secondly is the misguidance that they get from the coaching academies and the websites which keeps the focus of the defense aspirants on getting to know psychology tests, keep practicing stories, writing SRTs, Bali Pata, GTO tasks, tying knots, trying to mug up questions being asked in the interview, then looking for ideal answers for that, mugging them up and things like that

So, coming to my last question for this session, considering the younger generation that's coming in, their ways of the world is way, way different. We are seeing it in our day to day life. So do you think the selection process needs to consider this aspect or according to you, core values of army officers are never going to change?

You. The core characteristics of a leader of the society will remain practically the same as they were in the past, today also, and in the future as well. I will not just use the word army officers or defense services officers. Defense and services officers are leaders in the society that is about all, and operations and warfare demand that they are able to set examples of physical and mental courage and physical and mental stamina may be a little more than the civil world that is about all
