Who needs a village?

article image placeholderUploaded by @Bloomyswife
If we're fortunate, we have a close nuclear family. Unfortunately, there are many individuals who don't have close relationships with their nuclear families or extended families. I know for myself, while I have a close relationship with my blood relatives, I've had the opportunity to build my own village as I've matured. Individuals who have come into my life that have played a more significant role than an acquaintance

A brief discussion on the importance of villages in our lives. #Village #MyVillage #FamilyBuilding #PeopleNeedPeople #family

But one must treat the village as they would themselves, and even at times, treat the village even better than yourself. For that is what makes a village stronger, is working together as one. But there will be squabbles, there will be spats. These things can be helped, but it's just in our DNA, it's in our hardwiring, our limbic system, as it were, to look towards others, to grow. So villages are vital to the human experience, in my opinion

We'll have movies, and we're all sitting there watching movies. Now, me, I don't watch the movies that they play. I did once, but I just rather go back to mine. I guess I don't do great in that type of environment, but every now and then I do I do enjoy it, but just that much. Well, yeah, I want to thank you for the invite. I appreciate it. It was nice chatting with you. Take care

Hey, it's J-L-I have found great joy and appreciation of the village in my life. And initially it started with my nuclear family, that traditional family makeup. And as I have journeyed through life and continue to journey, especially as a recent survivor of domestic violence, I have grown appreciation for creating my own tribe

Thank you so much for the response on my twelve. I think you're absolutely correct when you say that you have to put in to our village a lot more than what we get out of it to make the village strong. I feel like there is a lot of that recycling that somehow in our culture into family relationships to get something out of the relationship

Thank you so much for sharing about your tribe. I think you're right that when you find those individuals who have the ability to have that duality, to go through their own struggles but appreciate yours even when your struggles are different from theirs, that those individuals can be just pillars of your community, of your tribe, of your foundation to go back to

So there may be unspoken secrets, but everyone generally knows. I feel like most of the time but thank you for responding. I think that that's great that your apartment complex is like that. I've lived in places like that where you get to know your neighbors and it's great
