Pt 1: Belonging is a Narrative
We seek validation and acceptance from others, validating our own narrative of belonging. When we find our place in the world, we feel a sense of purpose, security, and connection. We thrive in environments that affirm our narrative, reinforcing our sense of belonging, and affirming our worth. But what happens when this narrative falters, when the threads of belonging unravel, loneliness creeps in? Loneliness, too, is a narrative, a story of disconnection, isolation, and longing
But it wasn't just the narratives. It was this recognizing of, oh, there's other people like me and oh, other people who sense pand, experience the world in the same way or similar ways. Right. And I didn't even have to know them, get to talk to them. Just hearing about and recognizing the matching, the lining up, the congruency of it, I don't know.
