Unshared Poem Series: Darkness Poem written on January 2, 2005
Brown, gray and black is all I see around. No greens, reds, yellows, whites or blues. Dark, dark, dark. Life is there, but emotion is not. I feel like I have no feelings at all. My mind is blank. It only sees and takes in what is around me. And at that moment I'm dying inside and out. My life is no more and there is no one in sight. I lie alone, scared and confused. Wasn't I loved?

This piece is so sad. There's a bleakness to it where all the colors are washed out of life. It rings of depression to me where you just can't see any hope, and then there's a quiet acceptance in it as, okay, this is what I'm going through, and I think I've had enough. I hope that this was not what you were truly going through at the time you wrote it

But I'm going to work on sharing more of those because I can clearly see that there is a platform for it and a space for it. And I don't think that my poems should just live in a book. So thank you for listening and thank you for your comments. And we're not in that idea of depression anymore

As if adolescence in the teen years aren't hard enough. I can't imagine what you went through emotionally when you lost your dad. It's totally understandable why your poetry from that time period would be very sad. But I think a poetry kind of is therapy, so hopefully it helps you work out some of that stuff. And you should definitely post more of your poetry, because yeah, you're right. Poetry should not just live in a book. I look forward to hearing more
