But ultimately, I know how much money I would need to just stop working, enjoy that books, raise my I'm the up north minimalist, right? I'm living a simple life. And this figure, I haven't recalculated it for my new life, but just a couple of years ago, I did the math. $5 million pretax minus tax, pay off all my debt and give myself $50,000 a year for 20 years. So that was when I was 50

A lot of times having more stuff is a burden to me. It doesn't excite me. But the freedom to do what you want when you want is the whole point of money for me. So if it doesn't allow more control over my time, how can I say less ownership of my time and myself to other people? Which is why I hate things like debt. Because that's basically you owe somebody something and that's always over your head if it gets rid of that
