Two questions: How do you discover books and then how do you review them?

article image placeholderThe purpose of reviewing a book
It doesn't matter how popular or well recommended or under recommended or criticized the book is, if it catches my eye, I'm going to pick it up. And that's basically what I chase as my book discovery system. It has to seem interesting to me and then I generally don't dnf books. Like, I don't think I have ever DNF'd a book I endure or enjoy or both through the book, and then I sit down to review it

And I don't know why that is, but I just don't feel inclined to write anything. I suppose it's because if I decide to read that book again in the future, there's nothing really to know or not know about that book

You. Hey, what a lovely question. How do you discover books, especially in this time of information overload and so much stimuli in terms of, like, videos and movies and music and all of that? There's multiple sources, of course, for discovering books, but I think my primary source of discovering books is other books

See, I think the way you do it, I definitely recommend people go about it that way too, because reviewing books is something that helps authors sell more books, and it is something that I think in big little ways allows readers to create, like a time capsule of sort that you could go back to the review and see what you thought about the book at a particular point in time. Like a book that absolutely annoyed me. Great expectations. I couldn't read it

So at the end of the day, no matter how trashy a book is, this is just my opinion. If it manages to do that, if it manages to not distract you for a little bit and allows your brain to chill for a few minutes, I think that's job well done to you as a reader. See, I think every book has an audience, right? I'll give a funny little anecdote. The most read book on Amazon self publishing is about Bigfoot pornography
