Be better at online discourse by avoiding this one thing

article image placeholderUploaded by @Binati_Sheth
So this is the technique that is surprisingly used in online discourse a lot, because you will see influencers, intellectuals, and I am sure I have fallen victim to using Morton Bailey sometime as well, specifically when it comes to things I'm very, very emotional about, like new authors being attacked, things of the sort, no matter how intentional I try to be about the words. You can very easily fall prey to Morton Bailey, because Morton Bailey, by definition is a defense mechanism

Also, I think it's important to be mindful in our communication, not just on social media, because in the heat of passionate discussions, we can sometimes resort to defense mechanism that end up weakening the overall discourse. Um, so yeah, I agree. We need to disassociate from emotions to actually have more meaningful interactions

You very clearly. You have explained that how and in what way discourse is set up on online platforms and we feel influenced and in what way we should enjoy the things and what things we should avoid. So you have given that clarity, and it was really useful. Swell. And thank you very much for making it

@Ramya

Thank you so much for listening and for sharing your experience with recognizing this phenomena. Right because I think that's it. Whether we know the name or not. What's important is how much time we give to these arguments. And yeah, I think I have wasted a lot of time on these kind argument type things and I'm like not anymore. In Gujarati we say jagyatyari savar. Translation is it's morning when you wake up. So yeah, hopefully we've woken up right
