Mediations by Marcus Aurelius

article image placeholderUploaded by @Binati_Sheth
A life has to have mattered, and the aftermath of a life that has ceased to exist shouldn't be, oh, I wish I had done that, or I wish they had done that, or they had a bucket list which they were not able to. No, none of that. Mewento mori know that you're going to die, so might as well live every single moment as if you are dying tomorrow. That is a powerful concept, and Stokes are known to meditate on their death

There is no evidence Indian philosophy influenced Stoicism but I still wonder 🤔

Eluda Monia and being able to do so with temperance and courage and wisdom and really focusing on becoming the sage. So what I remember about meditations is that he was very focused on being a simple man who lived with virtue and finding those elements that gave him wisdom and trying to apply those as a ruler. To your point, things were very difficult during his reign and there were a lot of complex factors

@theheartdrive I wish i had answers

Not to have a supremacist view on any of this, but from cave dwellers to like I think it is awe inspiring what human endeavor has come up to over the years. And I definitely agree with you in that Stoic philosophy probably has more ancient roots. Where those roots come from, I genuinely don't know, which is this principle of looking inwards. Right

That's fascinating. I would love to learn to read Greek. I do not read Greek, but that would be great. Yeah. This is so interesting. Thank you so much for answering my comment, and I look forward to more conversation

University of Athens runs a course on Ancient Greek. It's completely online, you get a certificate if that you are interested in at the end of it. I think it's pretty cool. And a professor there, I think, saw the interest or I don't exactly know how I was trusted with this. I probably like, there's a LinkedIn connection of mine. He's the one who actually recommended me to this place
