सभी स्वल मित्रों को मेरा प्रेम भरा नमस्कार आज मैं आप लोगों के समक्ष कृति लेकर प्रस्तुत हुई हूं उसका शीर्षक है शेखर 1 जीवनी जिसे अज्ञेय ने जेल के वर्षों में लिखा है लेखक ने खुद अपने पेपर्स में माना है कि उनकी कहानियों के नायक और कथानक उन्हीं के जीवन से प्रेरित है इस कहानी के नायक शेखर भी उन्हीं के स्कूल के वर्षों के जीवन से प्रेरित है और इस कहानी का कथानक भी उन्हीं के स्कूल के वर्षों की घटनाओं पर आधारित है शेखर 1 कॉन्वेंट संस्थान मद्रास क्रिस्टियन कॉलेज में पड़ता है और उसके पिता ने उसको 1 ब्राह्मण हॉस्टल में दाखिला दिलवाया है 1 ही वर्ष में वह वह हॉस्टल छोड़ देता है और अपनी से छोटी जाति वालों के हॉस्टल में रहने लगता है वहां पर वह कुछ लड़कों को संगठित करता है और आसपास के शहरों में गरीब बच्चों को छोटी जाति के गरीब बच्चों को पढ़ाने लगता है तो यह अंश इसी पर आधारित है तो आइए सुनते हैं शेखर 1 जीवनी आज मैं आपकी जुबान पर यह छोटे छोटे बिना अर्थ के अक्सर देखता हूँ जो हम कायदे में आपको सिखाते हैं लेकिन 1 दिन ऐसा आएगा जब आप इसकी जुबान पर 1 नई भाषा के शब्द होंगे जिसमें अर्थ होगा वह ताकत होगी जो उथलपुथल मचा देगी और जाति और संप्रदाय का नाश कर देगी 1 नया धर्म पैदा करेगी जिसमें हम और आप भाई होंगे सगे होंगे आज वह दिन नहीं आया है तो इसलिए कि अभी हमारे और आपके दिलों में वह नहीं हैं लेकिन आएगा शीघ्र शेखर ने अपने भारी होते हुए गले को जरा सा आराम देने के लिए चुप होकर चारों ओर देखा कुछ लड़के उसकी बात समझ रहे थे कुछ नहीं समझ रहे थे लेकिन फिर भी स्नेह से उसकी ओर देख रहे थे यह देखकर उसके भीतर कुछ उमड़ आया उसने सदाशिव को पुकारा सदाशिव मेरी बात ये समझ नहीं रहे हैं तुम सुनो और मेरी ओर से अनुवाद कर देना फिर कहने लगा जिन लोगों के साथ रहना और खाना मैंने स्वयं चुना है यह सभी अछूत हैं आदर्शनीय है लेकिन मैं आपसे कहता हूं उनमें मैंने मित्र पाए हैं भाई पाए हैं कोई उन्हें पूछता नहीं है देखता नहीं है उनके पास नहीं जाता है इसलिए उनके दिल सच्चे हैं ताजे हैं और आग से भरे हैं उन लोगों से कोई बात नहीं करता इसलिए उनमें अनुभूति और भी तीखी हैं आप ही वे लोग हैं आप ही मेरे संगी और स्नेही हैं आप ही मेरा कार्य क्षेत्र हैं और आप ही मेरी शक्ति मैंने आपको अपनाया है पहचाना है और मैं इसी में सुखी हूं लेकिन आप इसके लिए कृतज्ञ मत होइए आप उस तरह अपने को छोटा मत बनाइए मैं ब्राह्मण होकर आप लोगों को अपने साथ ले रहा हूं ऐसा भाव मुझमें नहीं है मैं स्वयं आपके साथ आया हूं भीतर कहीं मैं भी अछूत हूं आपका भाई हूं मैंने अपने आप को दान नहीं किया है आप लोगों के साथ अपने आप को पाया है धन्यवाद इस रचना के द्वारा मैं यही कहना चाहूंगी कि 1 पंद्रह साल के युवक द्वारा यह 1 बहुत ही क्रांतिकारी कदम था और अभी जो कोई जात पात का अंतर नहीं है किसी के बीच यह इन्ही प्रयासों अथक प्रयासों का परिणाम है जो ऐसे व्यक्तियों ने हमारे इतिहास में उठाए थे धन्यवाद
