Even if you see modern art, be it paintings or films, dance or anything, people see it from a very superficial point of view. So that's why people enjoy physical comedy instead of cerebral comedy, because they only appreciate what appears to them or what is tangible. So they will watch something that is sensual or is over the top, or if they're watching some see a swim, they will just see it, just the gist of it. Just take it literally. Just like scriptures
