What do my fellow writers do to stay true to their core?

To continuously bring myself into the woods, to go hiking, to go camping, swimming, even to just sit in the backyard and to quiet my mind and listen to the bird song and watch the clouds. There's just something so soothing and so centering about that. And when I write, I really try to imagine that I'm writing to myself, to my inner self, my past child self, the parts of me that are really struggling, that really need empathy and validation
