Good evening. It's absolutely wonderful to be here and to be on Swell, which has this exciting new format. Life is going well and on the Trail of thugs and Thieves, released in July, and I'm lucky that readers have received it so well. This is my second book. I have co authored it with former Director General of Police Aloklal

A multi message book is definitely the one to be read as it is a combination of several values of morality and humanity. So this is more amazing to know that all of these stories are based on real life experiences and has the footsteps of the former DJP which makes it a must read. Sir, you have a diverse background in art, technology, music and even sports. How has these different aspects of your life influenced your writing style and the topics you choose to explore in your books?

Hello. My journey in the arts started with music. So let's put it like this had I not been a musician, I would have perhaps not been a writer or a photographer or for that matter, a painter. And all of these elements have actually made me a more sensitive person. I feel there is an inherent sensitivity in my writing style and that stems from all of these things I have done in the the past

Your experiences in each of the field, be it art, music, technology or sports, are worth appreciating. I mean, it takes a lot of complications and complex thinking to manage the time for each of them and carry on each of your interests. Moving further on, the trail of thugs and thieves seems to touch upon the crimes against human vanity and deep rooted issue of poverty. So could you share some insights into how these crimes impact our society and how your book addresses them?

On the Trail of Thugs and Thieves is a unique book in the sense that every story touches upon a topic which is relevant to the society patriarchy, dowry, poverty. And it doesn't offer solutions for these issues because that is a very long term and societal change. But it definitely shows how a dedicated officer and his team can make a huge difference in solving a crime and setting an example for society

Indeed with an officer who is dedicated towards change in the society. And if such stories as Of Samanthri reaches to every individual, I am sure they will be having a life changing lesson and it will definitely impact the society as well one day or the other. You worked with a former Director General of Lok Lal who has a unique perspective on law enforcement and crime solving as he has served in the force. So how his experiences in the police force shaped your approach to write this?

@authordaman

That's perhaps the simplest question I've had to answer. Had it not been for his experiences in law enforcement and crime solving there would have been no books. This journey started with the Barabanki Narcos in 2019 which is based on his experience of largest opium bust in the history of this country. His spearheaded the operation as superintendent of police in a small district called Barabanki. The book is called the Barabanki Narcos and was published by HRT India

You perfectly understood. Without his experiences, the book might have lacked the essence of real life. But your effort to put up such stories in front of people, in front of a society, is to be praised. Because without your initiatives of writing on such topics and exploring this theme, he won't have been able to share his experiences. Now, you work has found collectors worldwide in the fields of painting, photography and digital art as the most

I feel very lucky and blessed that my work has found collectors worldwide, including icons like India's former football captain Baijing Bhutia, Randeep Singh Surjawala who is the spokesperson of the Indian National Congress and Lord Karan Bilimoori who is a member of the British Parliament. To have such collectors is a statement of confidence and I carry that confidence into my writing. But another place where the twins meet is actually the covers of my books

Great. I guess that illustrations and graphics in a book adds life to the words in it, and especially if it is done by a photographer and a painter, it is definitely going to be more attractive and amazing. So you are also known for conducting Soft Skills workshop, right? And appearing on television debates and on various subjects. So how does your role as a public speaker and an cater has influenced your storytelling and communication with readers?

And I'm also, in a way, honing my skills for the next time I do actually speak to a base of readers. So while it is not necessary for a good writer to be a good public speaker, but being a good public speaker certainly helps in widening your reader base quicker. And it also enables you to connect with a lot more people, particularly when day and age, when social media is rampant

And once again, I'm grateful of you being here and having a conversation which may not change the society at once, but would definitely affect the way the individual and the society thinks. So keep writing on social issues and keep varying. People wish you lots of success in your life. Thank you

I don't really feel like I'm in a position to offer advice, but if there is one suggestion I would give any youngster, it is to accept failures much like you accept success easily. Treat those two imposters the same. I know it's hard, but the fact is that you will fail often and you will succeed often. So if you can accept success so easily and celebrate your victories, also learn how to celebrate your failures. Thank you once again to the entire team at Swell
