One of the largest to strike Turkey in at least a century, wiped out entire sections of major cities in a region filled with millions of people who have fled the civil war in Syria and other conflicts. The head of CTR's National Earthquake Rythammer told that this was historically the biggest earthquake recorded in the history of Centre. The earthquakes epicenter was 20 to 23 kilometre east of Nurdagi in Turkey's Gazianthan province, at a depth of 24.1 kilometres

An earthquake of 7.8 magnitude hit Turkey and Syria, which sounds super displeasing. It has killed numbers of people. The Turkish government is leading the response there through coordination by AFAD and with the Turkish Red Crescent state authorities declared a level four emergency leading to a call for international assistance
