An unexpected grief trigger: The Grocery Store

article image placeholderUploaded by @DearAuntyAng
Whether it was specifically the grocery store or just something that triggered grief that you wouldn't expect? We know a picture can bring back memories, the holidays, for sure, your loved one's birthday. But those random triggers that suddenly just take you back and bring on some grief. Yeah, it happens. So, hey, this is a safe space. If you want to share some unexpected triggers that have brought on grief, let's talk about it

And whatever I'm feeling, I'm just going to allow myself to feel it. But no, because you never know when grief is going to show up, right? It can be 20 some years down the road and grief will show up. And then what? You know what I mean? And now you're thinking about your loved one. And sometimes grief will show up and you just bust out laughing uncontrollably, like you can't stop laughing

They just show up. It's like those folks that just show up at your door unannounced, they didn't tell you they were coming over. Those people that are like, I was just in the neighborhood, so I decided to stop by, but it's like, I really wasn't looking forward to seeing you. I really don't want you here. But you're here. That's how it feels with those grief triggers

And that's what's important. And having these conversations, like you said, talking about these memories and not acting as one should not talk about the deceased. And I'm sure that means so much to them because it keeps their parents alive in their heart, soul, and mind. I also want to say I am thinking of you. I completely understand. We have conversed on swells before about this, about the topic of grief and losing a loved one

They have a butcher shop. They source their fish locally. They have a fresh baked shop. I mean, you just can't get no fresher than Sue Leonard's. And it's just a great trip. And they have all kinds of animatronics that sing for the kids, and it's really a great activity day. And so we would go there just kind of on GP. Hey, you want to go to Sue Leonard's? Yep

So, yes, my family, my niece, I think I've mentioned before, my sister's daughter lives with me because of losing her mom. But what I also may not have mentioned is that she lost the man that she knows, her stepdad, in 20. Now, you all got to forgive me for this. Either died in 2020 or 2021. Those years are kind of a blur, right? Because of pandemic. In fact, he had a funeral

And so thank you so much, Andrea, for stopping by. I the conversation definitely appreciate you. And, yes, I'm happy to have opened up a safe space to talk about grief
