The NBA & NFL drafts seem like they could be another form of the "slave trade"

Hello, swell friends, fam, and followers. I am coming today. So first of all, let me just say this. First of all, this swell that I'm about to post. A lot of people are not going to agree with my point of view, with my perspective, and I'm okay with that. I am open to being educated about the parts of this, well, that I don't know or I may not know as much about

So I think that having, if they're going to do this, keep doing this, they need to provide them with financial people who are not only going to help them with financial planning for the future, but also have financial checkers that go back and check on the other financial stuff so they make sure they aren't getting ripped off. So I think it's okay

And the language they were using did not sound like the language of men who had a chosen career profession, and this is what they chose to do. It was still the collective thought from middle America that we let you boys play in that field. So get out there and play ball and shut your mouth. Don't have a political opinion because, boy, we ain't paying you for that. Who's we? But that was the theme

And so when Colin did his kneeling and other players did their kneeling, when NBA players put black lives matters on the back of their shirt or anything like that, it was, like, outrageous. It's like, oh, my God, just get out there and play, boy. And so it does seem like a slavery system, as opposed to just happens to be their chosen profession because of the way, honestly, they seem to be owned. So I'll finish up there for now

Hey, sis. This is a good topic. So the NFL draft and NBA draft are different in how they go about their drafts. The NBA does what's called a lottery, and the lottery is a system that determines which teams will get the first pick. And it's usually the teams that miss the playoffs. They have the best chance of getting the first pick. Now, the NFL is different. They go by team record it. So the worst team is going to get the top pick

So in the NBA now, they are starting to have more, and I think the NFL is starting to have more coaches that are black, the NBA as well. But the NBA is also starting to have more owners that are black. Right. You're hearing more about black men becoming owners or gms. It's not like that in the NFL. They haven't gotten there. And so, again, it still does remind you of

Like what? And to a certain extent, they do kind of work for them, right. Because if everybody stopped going to see them play, then what will be the purpose in them playing? And what will be the purpose in them getting all the money? And then we have to think about it this way, too

And, yeah, like, they don't. And it's not even a political point. Don't have a point of view that's different than your owner. Let's, let's just break it down and let's just call a spade a spade. Don't have a viewpoint that's different than your owner. It don't matter if it's political, if it's social. Whatever it is, is. Don't have a view that's different than your owner

Hey, Jacqueline, I definitely agree with you. They definitely need to provide them. Not only do they need to provide them with, not only do they need to provide them with financial counseling, help or whatever, they also need to, they also need to provide them with, like, because a lot of these guys, when they come to the, them, the NFL and the NBA, some of them are coming from high school for the NBA, some of them are coming from high school

They want the money. Ultimately. They want their name to be solidified in NFL, NBA, MLB history, whichever sport they choose, and they want to make a name for themselves. They want to be able to take care of their families most of the time. They want to be famous. They want the opportunity to do something that few, as many players as they are in professional sports, in the grand scheme of things, it's very few that actually make it to the professional level

And there's been examples of it. But you have to be pretty good, I think, to actually get that. You have to have that kind of power and swag over a team to really demand a trade. And secondly, with regards to the combine, I agree the optics look terrible. However, it's a physical sport. And when I think about comparisons, if somebody was going to hire a coder in technology, I'd want to see code

Know the lesser defenses, coach or something like that. But everything, head coach and higher, has been white men for years. So white men are the one that started the NBA draft in the NFL draft. So let's not try to sugarcoat it, okay? Let's say what it is. It is reminiscent of the slave trade. It is. Listen, I love the NBA. I love NFL. I don't watch it as much because I'm just not into it like that

And you look back to the periods the players union really even existed or had any teeth to it, it was very reminiscent. And I think it's gotten better in one respect and worse in another respect, and it's gotten better because of the players unions. The players unions have become more powerful. They've provided a voice and protected the players in the league and the potential players in the league as well. And I think that's been a good thing

I agree with you 100%. There should be some financial training. I put this in one of my swells a while back where you have an 1819 year old kid coming into the NBA dead broke, dead poor, have no knowledge of financial training. His parents doesn't even have that training because they never had any finances to manage. So now he's broke on Tuesday day and he's worth $150,000,000 on Wednesday. So what are you going to do?
@Guruball1

A lot of former NFL players call the Columbine the underwear league, because all they do is just want you to come on with some little shorts, and then they want to check your body and make sure that you don't have any diseases. And then one of the disrespectful things about the NFL Columbine is that they make them take aptitude tests to see if you're intelligent enough to read a play book

And then once everybody is picked, if there's still players left over, then do it again and go again, you know what I mean? And be done with it. Why do you have to have this draft where you do you know what I mean? It is. I like sports. I do. I got into sports when my son was playing basketball and football. I really got into it then. I haven't really been into it as much when I was married

It doesn't help because it's a proven fact, and it's been shown that the guys who have passed this combine with the highest scores were the biggest flops in NFL history. We got the guy, I believe his name is Tony Mandrake. When they first started, this guy, he was huge. He did all of these reps, lifting weights for all of this stuff and all that, and he went to the NFL and was crap

It. Okay. Get me right if I'm wrong, because I was like, what? Now you all got them out there and they draws all the time. Like, come on, dog. Come on, dog. Don't do that. Don't do that. But no, that's good. I mean, I said it half jokingly and half like, do they really have them out there all the time? Like the whole time? And they draws?
