Hello, swell family. I was having a conversation, and we were talking about addiction. And so it just made me think. And so I wanted to do a swell about it. And I hope people join in the conversation. I know this conversation can get pretty sensitive. Some people have people who have died from addictions. Some people are going through addictions, whatever the case may be. So let's remember to be respectful. Because disrespect will be met with disrespect

You have addiction on you, and it makes it so that you do not know how to do things and stop. Like, once you start doing something, you just have to continue to keep doing it and doing it and doing it and doing that is a problem. You really need to work on that. You need deliverance from that. But people don't look at things in that way. You know what I mean?

And some people are just addicted to spending money. They don't care what they spend it on. They have to spend money. Right. And so we really have to take a look at it, and we really have to look at not only how it affects the person, but how it affects their family, how it could be traced back in their family and passed on in the family. So let's have a conversation about addiction

I don't feel that anyone's to blame for another person's addiction. We go around who we want to go around. We do what we want to do. A lot of times, people don't put stuff up to our mouths and make us do things. Now, I did have a friend that his mother was addicted because his dad drugged her up to keep her so he can keep her in check or in line, which is awful. But I don't do anything

Like most people that are addicted or have addictions because you're trying to fill a void or you're dealing with some form of mental wellness, and then when you pair all that together, it's just a recipe for disaster. So, as I said, I know for me, if I'm, like I said, super stressed, feeling super anxious, it's a wrap. Money is not going to stay in my hand

I should have asked him this years ago, but finally when I was getting ready to walk away because I couldn't take anymore, 14 years, I said, why do you even get high? He said, I like to get high. I said, I'm done. I'm done. You mean to tell me you like to get high? You like to suffer? He liked the effect of getting high. Addiction is a family thing

Addiction is more than just physical

If you know someone that's addicted, the best thing you can do for them beside pray for them is don't give them any money. Don't. Don't feel sorry for them. Don't give them any money. Try not to bail them out. You are enabling them. You are going to allow them to kill themselves by continuing to use drugs. Them. And they don't have a sob story. They always have a sob story. That's not your story

Now I'm on the outside looking in, rather than on the inside looking out, and I'm seeing things that I didn't see while I was sitting at the table. I see who's down with who, who's giving signals, who's passing cards on the table, and I'm like, wow. And I see who they're getting over on. So ever since then, that's when I stopped gambling. I never gambled, played poker or anything anymore

Hello, Kitha. Thank you so much for sharing your story. Know, sharing things about your mom. I so appreciate it. And that's what I wanted my page to be, right? I wanted my swell page to be a place where people felt safe to share things about themselves and about things that they've been through. So thank you. And I'll be praying for your father that God blesses him and touches his mind and his heart

And even for me, like, sometimes times I might go, let's say I go to Walmart and maybe thinking about something or overthinking or stressing or whatever, and I'll go to Walmart and I'll start buying, just putting stuff in the basket, right? And then by the time I get to the checkout and I start putting stuff on the counter, over half of that stuff, I'm putting it back like, I don't need this
