Gen X mom needs help

article image placeholderUploaded by @ACy196927342818
So I can kind of, in a way, understand. But my son had a lot of opportunities, and he was part of a program. That kind of mentor gave him a mentor, and he just screwed it up and didn't keep going with it. So this mom needs help in learning how to just shut the noise off and figure out the right way to approach these kids, because I am at a loss

And if we are in that state of mind, we're feeding ourselves exactly what we don't need. And trying to break those habits can be especially hard. And I guess I'm sort of touching on all these different areas, but I want to reassure you that you could have done the perfect job of raising your children, and I'll back it up to say instead that you equipped them to the best of your ability. Right. But you can't cover all of the bases

And I just don't understand. I can see how things have been difficult. I can see how sometimes, yes, it has been the other person's fault. But what I don't understand is that doesn't mean you just get to sit down and cry and be overwhelmed and stop functioning. Yes, the world's a terrible place, but you have to function in it. And that's what I don't understand

I don't know. It's all very confusing at times. But I appreciate your feedback and your willingness to respond to me regardless of whether or not you have children. I think that, as I said, that doesn't bode either here or there. I think your willingness to provide comfort to a bearish or some other or just another human is very appreciated. And I think that we all need to sit together and kind of be there, be sounding boards

And I love you. But it was understood. It was understood how much she loved us and how much she cared for us. I think that the hardest thing for me sometimes is that I just want to say to these kids, hey, come on, toughen up and raise

And I just recently have become thankful that she said that. For a long time, I was mad at her for saying that. But usually what I notice when my kids get mad at me for saying something, it's because it's the truth and they're not ready to hear it. So I, too, am a Gen X mom

And I'm so grateful for therapy for her and for me. I didn't sound like it the other day, but I definitely understand the need to seek therapy. And you know how they say in an airplane, put your own mask on first and then help the others around you that you love, because if you don't help yourself first, you can't help others. It's really true
