FEATURE: The world’s northernmost town is changing dramatically due to climate

article image placeholderThe World’s Northernmost Town Is Changing Dramatically
Graph statistics data. These are all things that we think about when we read articles about climate change, and sometimes we don't know how to emotionally respond to these articles. How do we process the information? How do we take action? I read an amazing article in Scientific American recently called The World's Northernmost Town Is Changing Dramatically. It's written by Gloria Dickey, who's an environmental journalist based in British Columbia, and I've invited her here on Swell to talk about this article

And so we kind of zeroed in on falbar just because it's a unique place where those changes are really amplified, not just in terms of climate, but in terms of economics and geopolitics due to the Salvard treaty. So the archipelago is regulated essentially by this treaty that was signed over 100 years ago. And so Norway has sovereignty. But it's not quite the same as an independent country. And so it was kind of this idea of as things heat up dramatically in fallbar

@GloriaDickie 🙏

Yeah. You absolutely achieve that tension. There was like a major cognitive distance that was happening because I know that lots of things aren't going to go wrong because of this. But a lot of things are going to change and seem to go right. So I'm going to keep an eye out for this story and for this region, I think most people will as well. And because this is your beat, man, this is what you are focused on
