Ranking pain of stinging insects.

article image placeholderUploaded by @Urbanlegends
This description is one of 78 entries of ant, bee and wasp stings in his pain scale for stinging insects, widely referred to as the Schmidt Sting Pain Index. Schmidt, who died in February of 2023, was a biologist at Southwestern Biology Institute and a researcher in the entomology department at the University of Arizona, and willingly offered his arms to different stinging insects of the orders of Jaimenopentria to create the index featured in his 2016 book The Sting of the Wild

Oh, no. Your audio cut out part way through what I heard was amazing. I'm intrigued by someone so dedicated and and how kind to and helpful to write a book about it

Rich, hearty, slightly crunchy, similar to getting your hand mashed in a revolving door. Number three was the indian jumping ant. That wonderful wake up feeling like coffee, but oh so bitter. Number four, the water walking wasp. Clever but trivial. A little magic in it, but you cannot quite figure out the difference between pain and illusion. Number five, the ferocious polybea wasp. Like a tick gone wrong, your posterior is a target for a BB gun, a bullseye

It's. Christina I have published the second part of it that didn't make it on there. Not sure why that happened. I'll have to look back at that. And I've also included a couple of his reviews of the actual pain level of the stings. Hey, thanks for listening, and thank you for participating in just kind of communicating. I hope you have a great day. Bye
