Taller vehicles kill more pedestrians #1316

article image placeholderUploaded by @Urbanlegends
The authors estimated that the limiting of height to 3ft seven inches would save 1350 pedestrian lives a year. Pedestrian deaths have been going up since 2022, which was the most deadly year on record when us pedestrians, Syrians, and perhaps not coincidentally, cars began getting bigger. Our thanks to Reuters and Kim Kyung hoon for their contributions to urban legends and stranger truths

Okay, that is perplexing. I wonder what they meant by when pedestrians started getting larger in 2022. Because it's not like we suddenly started getting taller or wider. And if we did, why did that happen? How did they notice that that happened? To what degree did that happen? I mean, coinciding with the larger vehicles getting larger. I can get that. But estrins suddenly getting larger. I don't know what they meant by that. Anyway, very interesting. Thank you as always

Thank you for your questions and your and your comments. I did not include it because I didn't want to run on excessively with the podcast, but it was actually the center for Disease Control that had issued information in regard to how Americans during the time of the pandemic actually started gaining an average of ten to 15 pounds during the lockdown. And that was in part what the story was based on, but I wasn't able to add that additional bit in there

Oh, that makes complete sense. I sometimes forget the impact the pandemic had on how we keep track of, for example, the size of humans. And anyway, thank you so much for adding that
