Do We Respect the Deep Need for Play and Rest?

And I kind of think she sits in that beautiful apex where we're able to see where we've been and where we possibly can go. And she really is somebody who I think believes in the baby steps and kind of amassing certain life tools over time. And I feel like she's sensitized towards Bernet Brown because Renee is really committed to making things accessible. So, Danielle, thank you for joining us, and I hope life is good there

Take a break and think about this with Danielle Colley https://s.swell.life/SSwL96JrOBjNeBp #brenebrown @Your.Good.Life

I had anxiety, I was burning out, I was overwhelmed, and I started to break down. That's what humans do when we run at this level for such a prolonged time that our nervous system just can't continue in that way. So for me, having come from this background of really pushing myself so hectically and frantically and then burning out, it's something that I really see in my clients. So many of my clients are really high achieving women pushing themselves, proving their identity

@Your.Good.Life defining play🍿

Because I think we want to revitalize our bodies and our souls when we take the time not to work, but sometimes consuming things for five to 7 hours a night, sometimes not seven, but close to it. For some people, when you're just consuming, that seems to be the default of what people feel when they think about play. But there are so many other ways to play. How would you encourage people to discover what play is for them, not including sitting in front of the TV

I mean, sleep is what the body does. The body has to do that. If we don't do that, we're going to die. So sleep doesn't actually even count. I mean, it does, but it's about discovering the activities that replenish your energy, stores or nurture and nourish your energy. So some people find walking in nature restful or yoga or reading a book under a tree or taking a bath. So some of that is obvious. Some of it is less obvious

Do you think we hard wired for intensity ?

But in terms of the work you do, have you seen people really shift their intensity so that they could actually joy and savor and drop in as opposed to having goals, goals, goals, goals, goals, goals. What's your thought on that

The invitation is absolutely to begin to understand your behaviours and dri

So I think ultimately it's about getting to know yourself, your drivers, how you self sabotage, and then learning how to create antidotes in your daily actions and those small daily habits and the things that you do daily, weekly, monthly that supports not just your lifestyle and your energy, but mental, physical, emotional, well being
