Thinking About Empathy In A New Way

article image placeholderFrom Atlas of the Heart
As a woman who's never been 89, what does it feel like to be 89? What does life offer her every day and what complications arise? And how can I just be there and empathize supposed to fix? So this passage really helped me. I'll post it here as an image and I'd love your thoughts about this. Thanks

And these days, a lot of people, the need that is not being met is generally there's a sense of frustration, anxiety, fear, deep levels of insecurity with our community and just the way we live. Right. Just generally speaking. So when the basic needs are not being met, people are going to inevitably act in all kinds of ways that are our suspect. I like the idea that empathy is compassion and action

Teaching empathy is so challenging

You know, it makes so much sense listening to both of you referencing the idea of the complexity of this and taking some of the ideas and putting them into action and making them a part of, of how we relate to each other. It makes so much sense that empathy is being taught actively in situations right now where they're seeing the lack of empathy is a huge cost, especially in the corporate space

And it's a blessing. It's so beautiful to be able to know that taking that pause and listening and accompanying someone in there, even in their clumsiness, especially in their clumsiness, is such a beautiful sort of heart opening experience for me.
