Let's actually make dates for when we'll read 100 pages at a time because we both really want to read it before we watch the latest adaptation. So I'd love to hear if you've actually read the book and especially if you have seen the movie, what do you think of the book to movie adaptation? I just heard from a friend who has read it and who just saw the adaptation

I am one of the few that has not read Doom and is not planning on rain doom. I am not massively into the Sci-Fi genre either as movies or as books. I kind of just stay away from them and Doom, even people who love Sci-fi genre, they are intimidated by this book. And so it's just been one that I have stayed away from and probably will keep staying away from

I totally understand both of your replies, and I feel like this is a common response that I've been hearing from people who are really excited about the movie but have no interest in the book. However, in my brief experience, I'll say that the book is sold of L everywhere. I went to several bookstores last night and could not find a copy of it
We have very similar tastes in Sci-Fi and fantasy, and the film in general, Dune as a story is, I think, along with probably J-R-R. Tolkien's, Lord of the Rings, the two most heavily influential books of all time when it comes to the scifi and fantasy genres, Star Wars, Star Trek, The Kingkiller Chronicles, Game of Thrones. Really, I feel like they owe everything to either Doon or Lord of the Rings, depending on obviously the genre

Now it did help that if I needed to get characters straight in my head, I went to IMDb to see who they had cast in the new movie just so I could get an image in my head. And that did help me. I wonder how the two large glossaries appendices afterwards are going to play on an audiobook

I'm even more excited to read the book now hearing your thoughts having recently read it again to him, everything I've heard in relation to there being a lot about ecology is especially interesting to me, though I can imagine potentially challenging, so I will definitely keep you all updated as I read and looking forward to hearing more from others who have either just seen the movie and are now even more interested in reading the book or who have already read it

I read the Dune books decades ago, and I enjoyed them thoroughly. The hardest part with the books was trying to figure out what the words mean. And fortunately, Frank Herbert put a dictionary in the back of each of the books so you could figure out what things meant. I don't think they'll be able to scratch the surface of all the books in this film. I don't see how it's as possible

Thank you so much for the reply. I just started listening to June last night and I really see where you're coming from right now. There's a lot of details so far that I'm Super curious how they're going to capture on the screen. So looking forward to continuing to reading the book and then seeing how it comes to life soon. I'm curious. Are you going to be seeing the film or no

So I'm really excited to see the follow up film to the latest adaptation after having read the book. And if you haven't read the book, I highly recommend. Like I said, the audiobook absolutely incredible

Wow. I'm like, late to the party here, but I did see Dune, and I thought it was. I thought it was amazing. Like, honestly, I watched it once and I want to watch it again, but I'm just sort of saving it. Like, you know, how you just save, like, a little dessert on on your plate to watch it again. And I was curious to read it

I'm so glad you're interested in hearing the audiobook. I think it's so good I'm going to share a link here to the version that I listen to. I got it through Libra FM because I really like that I can support a local bookstore of my choosing when I get audiobooks, and if you don't have Libra if I'm already but want to try it out, I think you get one free audiobook if you're invited by someone else or something like that
