Should books be banned?

article image placeholderBook Ban Efforts Spread Across the U.S.
And books allow us a tool, a way to not feel alone with many of the things that we're experiencing in the world. But I'm wondering this is my perspective as a really big reader, though, as someone whose life has been really shaped by books and who gets so much joy from books and really needed them when I was younger. And I'm wondering if you think that there are any situations where a book should be banned and why?

We have to sit on more school boards in the most remote places. There's always a single voice of sanity, and they need to run for a school board. It's just so upsetting. I'm hoping this is a really weird moment in history and then it goes away. Yeah. Really disturbing. Thank you for bringing it up. I mean, not that disturbing is a good thing to bring up, but of course it is

And then I like that it mentioned that it already is a thing in a lot of schools that parents already have the opportunity to say, like, hey, my child is not allowed to check out the following books. If that's the case, why go to the extreme of taking that opportunity away from all children? And a lot of parents do view these books as good educational opportunities. Like, they think that they are going to help their children and gender, sexuality and racism

I am so happy that this was brought up on here, because this is something I want to talk about all the time. I did plenty of speeches on this in high school. This was always my persuasive topic of choice because I think some of the best books are the ones that they're taking away from schools. And I think a lot of students are missing out on really great exposure. And I would love to hear more about what other people have to say

That being said, to Debra's point, about Mouse being banned in one school district in Tennessee from one school board, the media attention that that issue has gotten is now skyrocketed Mouse back to the top of the bestseller lists on Amazon. Interesting, I'm not saying that we should start banning books to try and boost books sales, but I will say it's a minority. It's a vocal minority

It's been a while since I've been on shelf, but I just thought I should say a few words about this topic. First of all, I'm not a reader of books and I really don't like to read a whole lot of books. I'm kind of a movie and a guy. But nevertheless, having said all that, I don't think books should be manned. It's kind of a hypocrisy we live in
