Thoughts on TV and it’s power to teach and heal

But this conversation should be more of a conversation about what TV has the power to do for all of us and how it has the power to change and make a more reflective future for all of us. Thank you

TV, healing, entertainment

Formative shows!

And so for a certain number of years, TV was like my best friend, as sad as it sounds, but I think that's a big reason why I am someone who just loves storytelling so much because of everything you said about it being healing and transformative and educational for better or for worse, something that's been kind of funny and strange to do over this last year in the Pandemic is re watching some things from my childhood that I hadn't seen in forever and realizing like that didn't age super well or that one did

But in the case of Boymet's World, there's so much about it that I think remains relevant today. And that show, Boymet's World, just from the moment I watched it until now, sort of still has the same effect on me. And it covers such a wide variety of topics and issues that people deal with. The Vicar of Dibley 😜

And Celia, to your point about TV having this magic sauce, that show, I just got so attached and I felt like it was my little group and I couldn't wait to see the next episode. And I generally I'm not drawn to religious groups sitting around a table making insignificant things important. Like, what are we doing for the Church fair on Sunday. But this gave me this quaint little access point, and I really loved it. I don't know

Did you ever read Jerry Mander? He was not a fan. 📺

You've probably seen the testimony where Fred Rogers testifies in front of the Senate about the power of public television to reach kids where they are kids who may not have other adults in their life telling them how important they are. I was one of those kids, right? I was one of those first generation kids watching public television watching Mr. Rogers. So, yes, I grew up with television in other house on your formative TV shows. For me, the Carol Burnett Show, The Muppet Show
