Would Work Be Better If We All Took A Collective Coffee Break?
You got to know that coffee breaks provide an opportunity for colleagues to connect and socialize in a more relaxed setting. Everybody's not intense. Everybody's not having those fake smiles. They're actually genuinely having a good time. At least relaxing for a little bit. The good thing about this social interaction is it can help build relationships, foster teamwork, and create a sense of community in the workplace. And it does increase productivity
That's where you get your good ideas. When people are sitting there, they're stimulated with coffee and more breaks. The better employers should be giving their employees creative breaks all the time. Especially if you have employees that work in a creative field. You should be letting them do whatever the hell they want to do to produce results. I can't speak for the corporate world

I do, because it has a lot of information. And also I just want to see what everybody else is talking to you, that 360 degree life. I mean, sometimes we get so wrapped up in things and tension runs high, and it seems like a lot of people thrive on tension when it really does a lot of damage to your heart. I feel it sometimes. I have these tense days, and before I could just ride it off with no problem at all. And now it's like I'm feeling the heart a little bit. And so sometimes I think about I got to relax and these coffee breaks

Just taking a break during the day where we can just sit back, have a couple of pastry snacks and a cup of coffee, and just talk about family and life and what our summer plans are and all the different things without having to sit down and talk about this particular report that needs to be run, this deadline that needs to be met. And I think it's important because a lot of times with the people we work with, we only know them through work
Know you're thinking, man, I wish I would have thought of that. Because believe me, Tanya, I've had many times when I've had to compliment people saying, man, I wish I would have come up with that idea. That's such a great idea. So, yeah, I mean, it sounds like you're not in the traditional office setting anymore, which is great. I wish I was like that, but got to be in a classroom in my particular profession
I mean, we have bills to pay, but we lose sight sometimes of being human. And I think the coffee break idea is just part of being human. It's the best part of being human. It's talking with each other. It's having that dialogue that may bring up a topic that you may not have thought of had you not talked to each other at work. Maybe you don't have enough time to talk to each other away from work
It's like, no, how do you drive people to your swell? And it's like, oh, you have to resell it. If I reply, then people that find your swell like they see mine, it's a continuous thing. And then you build the complete. You get replies and you build a show off of it. There, I was getting to the point, sorry
And I think, like you're saying, these moments of community and sharing, it's team building. And when you take that away, like they do, oh, man, they love to take away break time, don't they? That's why they have laws against that shit. That's why we have unions. Is that. Yeah, it's getting more and more difficult, but, yeah, I don't know

I mean, when I was in radio, of course, I was taught to get right to the point and keep it short, sweet, and to the point. But with swell, we're able to elaborate further. And you did. You really contributed to the conversation. I mean, never in a million years would I have thought about Rick Rubin. Not even close. And yet, when you added that, it brought another dimension to the swell cast
Hey, Simon, this is a great discussion. It's a contemporary one in the sense that our culture, in many companies, I don't feel that enough of this is fostered or advocated, because you're expected to be constantly working on the go. Now, I can say that I worked in government

Rather than what is actually for the better well being of the company. I find switching tasks to be extremely draining. So if I were to choose, I would take a couple of remote days or days where if I have to be in the building, I'm by myself, mostly in silent. And then I may come in a few days where the day is mostly about meetings and meeting with other people, and streamline that because it is not as draining a thing
And again, for those who maybe like to talk a little more or can separate themselves from the job and a personal interaction, then so be it. But for those who may find value in maybe resting their mind through a nap or some type of rest, that's also a great option. So that's just another great point to bring up

There are a couple of things you mentioned here, and the fun part of the tea parties as well is we're doing historical preservation, motivation and learning through that for the grown ups, but also for the children. We're going to build out to doing etiquette classes for the children because there again, our schools and our years of COVID catch up is still in effect. We're not talking about it, but there are people talking about it, certainly. So we're talking about it now

Tanya, you mentioned that you don't work in an office, but where are there areas in your life and your world that you could use some building of a better relationship there for whatever reason? So you're not in an office. So now we're taking the tea party out of the office. And now we're taking the tea party out into the community. We're taking the tea party into your relationships. We're taking your tea party into a hot date

I think times like the times should be appointed that way to encourage the group to interact and engage with one another and get to know one another. But on the job and at coffee breaks, I just don't think that's appropriate. But engagement, group engagement does bring on more productivities. It increase the morale. It gives people a chance to know one another and to feel relaxed working amongst one another. And that also will build productivity, as one once said
