A Conversation with Dan Weissmann: Host of "An Arm and a Leg"
And that is exactly why I invited Dan on the show today. I feel like it is such an important thing what you're doing, Dan, and I can't stress that enough how your shows are going to impact the lives of people who maybe don't know a lot about this particular subject and are trying to figure things out. It's funny. It gets serious when it needs to be, and it's caring

I think the audience for this might be bigger than I realized. And so I just took one step at a time and made prototypes and passed around and got advice and eventually made a commitment and started making the show
Dan. It's so good to hear your voice. And thank you for that little introduction about the show. It seems sort of like a no brainer, honestly, when you think about it because they're to your point about talking to people. It seems like you can't go anywhere or speak to anyone these days who has not in one way or another, had their lives affected by this particular problem

We're not the only ones trying to get out with the knowledge. It's a ton and it's hard to organize a reporter who was publicly for a long time Published a book last year called never pay the first bill and other ways to fight the health care system and win it's full of good information

So you can find if you go to our website@arminalkeshow.com or look at our podcast, you'll see information about him. But the other thing that he's been doing, which I love so much, is he's been training people about how to apply and how to teach other people how to help someone. You know, what are the obstacles you're likely to come into? He holds these trainings every month
Wow. Dan, thank you for such a detailed response and for providing a few places for people to get some help. Those that are listening, I would say subscribe to that newsletter, first aid would be almost foolish for you not to. The other resources that you mentioned are incredibly, incredibly important
And I guess, Dan, not to make you feel like I'm putting you on the spot or anything. I realize that you're not a doctor, but you do spend a lot of time researching everything that's happening in the healthcare world. So I figured you'd have a very unique perspective on this particular subject

What does it mean for the fact that we have dinner with my mom, who is 91 every week and essentially making sure we don't bring her anything that could be awful for her is super high priority for us. And I think being in this weird place where our government, our governments, local, state, and federal are all a little confused about what they think they should be telling us to do. It puts all of us in our own binds. Don't know, man
And I guess that sort of leads me to, well, obviously the great work you're doing on your podcasts. But one thing that I noticed is that when you invite people on to speak about a particular subject within health, you always have really fascinating guests. And it kind of almost revealed to me that there's this really strong base of people similar to yourselves that are trying to democratize health care in one way or another or at least access to the information that you need

And two, has a daughter with a lot of medical needs and has really and three is just someone who doesn't mess around and has learned a lot and shared a lot in 60 seconds at a time about how to avoid paying more than you have to. We did two episodes with her. One was called Your TikTok Mob has some medical bill tips, and I tell the story
Dan, what a remarkable series of events that just seem to happen one after another. It's incredible that you are able to source such helpful information and like such unique cases that honestly, for as unique as they may be, I'm sure a lot of people are struggling with that sort of thing in their lives. I wanted to, I guess, wrap this up by just saying thank you so much for the tremendous work that you're doing. It does not go unnoticed

But I'm also involved and intrigued on a macro basis and just watching our system at work and how inefficient it is, how overly complicated it is, and then how much we're wasting year after year. And I honestly believe that if people took the time to really, truly understand what's going on with PBMs pharmacy benefit managers, there would be pitchforks and lanterns in the street tomorrow

Hi Dan. So I think this is such a good topic and I still don't have like any idea around the full knowledge of everything in health but am learning a lot and I'm learning it a lot from TV shows that I'm watching that I had no idea what was going on in the health world
If any of you guys have come across a nurse, it's the nurse that's taken care of you, and that's tending to your wounds, and that's tending to make sure you feel safe and comfortable. So if there's going to be half the nurses in the forest, but what's how is that going to impact, no matter how much you're paying, what kind of insurance you have? If there are less nurses, then how is that going to impact the healthcare
