In this interview, Coach Burhoter discussed a player on the team who he felt had not shown the appropriate amount of commitment to the team. He goes on to say that, quote in this last World Cup we had a player that was clearly not meeting expectations on and off the field, one of 26 players. So it stood out as a staff. We sat together for hours deliberating what we were going to do with this player. We were ready to book a plane ticket home
As part of that conversation, I told Ernie that I thought it was especially unfair that Gio, who had apologized for acting immaturely about his playing time, was still being dragged through the mud when Greg had asked for and received forgiveness for doing something so much worse at the same age. Without going into detail, the statements from yesterday significantly minimize the abuse on the night in question. And maybe it's not a domestic violence claim, but it's something. It is something. And I could give you examples. There was hey, did you know they swore in front of the players? Did you know they gave the wrong field out? They left a child alone after practice. And of course, none of it turns out to be true, but there was always something trying to submarine because they were unsatisfied with the playing time, the position that their kid was playing or whatever reason
